Description:

For their 2013 fundraising auction, the Los Angeles Architecture and Design Museum invited teams comprising an architect and a manufacturer to produce a piece of mobile luggage. In collaboration with Lehrer Architects, Arktura submitted this nesting design with three components—an inner colored felt box; a central metal shroud perforated with a pattern based on the runways at Los Angeles International Airport; and an outer metal shroud perforated to display the text “LA.” Disassembled, these three components can double as a seat, cushion and footrest for the weary traveler.

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Architect: Lehrer Architects
