For Hollywood Burbank Airport’s new terminal, the design team envisioned an arrival experience that evokes the glamour of Hollywood: bright lights, shimmering stars and the movement of Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress. That vision takes shape in custom metal walls and ceilings by Arktura, an Armstrong brand. From a distance, the sweeping exterior ceiling recalls the dress’s flowing silhouette. Up close, perforations of varying sizes give the metal wall and ceiling surfaces a star-like shimmer.
Bringing it to life required careful coordination. Solutions Studio®’s design services team supported the engineering of a continuous exterior metal veil across multiple structures, while custom perforated metal panels carry the design seamlessly from the exterior into the interior — through the entrance, across the lobby and into the gates within the airport.
