Arktura’s Solutions Studio® team designed a customized interior project for the Wu Tsai Institute at Yale University in New Haven, CT. This institute is a university-wide neuroscience initiative that integrates biological, psychological, and computational sciences to uncover the inner workings of the mind and brain.
A standout feature of the project is the custom-designed, faceted metal panels that are installed throughout the common areas of the interior space. Based on our Delta Drop® collection, these panels were adapted and elongated with a unique pattern design. They wrap around both the walls and ceilings of the building’s hallways. Colorful third-party lighting placed behind the panels adds motion and energy to the space. Frosted backers between the illumination and the panel’s perforations create a soft, warm glow. The blue, purple, and pink hues of the RGB lighting form vibrant circular perforations that reflect the Wu Tsai Institute’s online branding.
In the classroom areas, an array of standard Vapor® Trail panels creates a linear display of perforated circles. These panels are equipped with a Soft Sound® acoustic backer, enhancing functionality by creating a productive learning environment free from distracting noise.
